Job Description
The MGUH pancreaticobiliary surgery program is looking for a surgeon experienced in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. The program resides within the Medstar Georgetown Transplant Institute, and program currently performs more than 200 major pancreatic and liver resections annually. The surgeon will work closely with the pancreaticobiliary GI team, other surgeons and help staff a multihospital system and help further develop the program.

The MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute currently performs over 100 adult liver and 30 pediatric transplants annually. Our institute also transplants over 200 kidney/pancreas and 20 intestinal transplants with access to state-of-the-art ancillary and sub-specialty services including onsite HLA and histopathology laboratory services. Our dynamic team includes several dedicated surgeons, transplant fellowship-trained nephrologists, physician extenders and experienced transplant coordinators. Our program is renowned for offering innovative techniques and approaches to overcome antibody and other barriers for transplantation. Additionally within MGTI is the Center for Translational Transplantation Medicine (CTTM), a unique partnership with Georgetown University School of Medicine where existing and newly funded research opportunities thrive.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have training in HPB surgery through either an AHPBA, ASTS or SSO approved training program, and possess at least 2 years of experience. An interest primarily in pancreatic surgery, and a research background and funding in pancreatic cancer is additionally desired. Licensure in the District of Columbia is required and ABS certification is desired. One or more positions are available and leadership opportunities will align with candidates experience and track record.
