Law Clerk needed in Washington, DC

*The ideal candidate will be able to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.*

Our end client is currently seeking a highly qualified Temporary Legal Professional/Law Clerk to join our Law Department in Washington, D.C. This position is within the end client's Government Affairs Law Support Group, which provides legal counsel to the client's Government Affairs Department on a variety of legislative, regulatory, and political law issues that affect the end client and its companies. This position will provide a law student with hands-on, in-house counsel experience in a fast-paced environment. The position is located in our Washington D.C. office and the law clerk will report to the client's Assistant General Counsel and Director of Political Law & Ethics Programs. The ideal candidate will be able to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.

As a temporary law clerk, your responsibilities may include: • Conducting general legal research and reporting on various issues; • Assisting in legislative drafting and interpretation; • Analyzing state and federal statutes, regulations, and court cases regarding lobbying, gifts to government officials, political contributions, and charitable contributions; • Preparing presentations on political law and legislative issues; • Keeping abreast of company/department goals, and maintaining a solid understanding of department priority issues; • Researching, analyzing, and reporting on international, federal, and state law issues impacting end client's family of companies; and • Reviewing, researching, and analyzing campaign finance/election laws, corporate political spending activity, and corporate governance matters. We are looking for current law students who possess superior analytical, written, and presentation skills with the ability to assess and utilize information in a strategic fashion. Qualified candidates should be able to assimilate and integrate large amounts of information to spreadsheets and charts that are shared internally. The ideal candidate must also be technologically proficient, and competent with Microsoft Office. To qualify for the temporary law clerk position, the law student must be in good academic standing at his or her law school. Current enrollment in law school program is required. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred. Candidates must pass a drug-screen and background check prior to employment. Pay for the temporary law clerk position is commensurate based on student’s status in school and prior experiences. We recognize that our people are the reason we achieve our business goals.
