Experience: Five years of experience in accounting and/or finance work, or three years of experience in accounting and/or finance work, and one year of college or university level courses towards a declared major/minor in the area of accounting and/or finance.

Language: Very good knowledge of English and Spanish.


● Serve as designated auditor for Workday time tracking ensuring accuracy of balances from legacy systems, coordinating sick leave approvals with the Health Unit, and updating employee records in Workday, as needed;

● Identify separating staff, monitor clearance business process in Workday, perform final audit of leave records, and ensure payment of terminal entitlements of all staff within thirty-days of separation;

● For tax years 2015 and earlier, receive and log claims for income tax settlement, assist staff in presenting claims, compile transcript authorization forms for transmittal to the US Internal Revenue Service, distribute claims for settlement calculations, distribute correspondence related to tax reimbursement payments and balances due from staff;

● For tax years 2016 and later, assist staff with the presentation of tax claims to the UN Tax Unit, including requests for 2016 tax advances using UN Form F-65;

● Assist in the validation of payroll calculations for assigned staff, performing manual calculations for comparison to system-generated results, and assisting in the evaluation of changes identified from comparative reports;

● For tax years 2015 and earlier, assist in the collection of data for gross salary calculations to determine taxable earnings of WHO staff; distribute earnings statements (IRS Form 1099-MISC) to all eligible staff;

● For tax years 2015 and later, assist in the preparation and distribution of IRS Form 1095-C to certify conformance of PAHO active and retired staff who are US citizens or Permanent Residents with the insurance coverage requirements of the US Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act;

● Prepare formal attestations and earnings statements for staff and consultants upon request and on an annual basis for Headquarters and country office staff, calculating the value to report and determining the appropriate format to issue;

● Process correspondence for the team, file, distribute, and organize documents; monitor the team mailbox and ensure timely response to incoming messages; ensure timely transmission of the country offices payment authorizations according to established deadlines;

● Maintain tracking log and perform follow-up to obtain documentation required for the payment of terminal entitlements and the processing of tax claims;

● Perform other related duties, as assigned.
